New digs, redux


I had really planned on sticking with the OceanBech 1.0 theme for at least 6 months before moving on, but as much as I liked the look, it was definitely a very 1.0 theme. I had to do a lot of hacking around in the CSS to get it to look “just right” and even still there were some things I was less than pleased with.

I really didn’t want to be “that blogger” who changes the theme of his blog as the mood suits him, but I was really getting frustrated with what I felt were some limitations of my previous theme. I’ve spent some time the last few days really perusing the themes that met my very basic requirements: three columns and widget-ready. After much reading and reviewing, I’ve settled on “Subtle” (a.k.a. Glued Ideas). I like the look and feel very much and there is an active development and support community at http://www.gluedideas.com/.

As always, expect some minor tweaking in the days/weeks ahead. I won’t have time to mess with this stuff once school/grad school starts in a few more weeks.

I don’t know if you’re into soccer, Scott. But Monday Thierry Henry left my and Stan Kroenkes team Arsenal for Barcelona. Henry is possibly the greatest footballer playing at the moment. It was as if my wife suddenly left…
And now you leave the blog theme I use thanks to you. Two departures like that in one day, I’m not sure I can handle it… ;-)
But the new theme is really neat. In what way do you find it more Web 2.0 bar the CSS hacking?
On CSS hacking: Have you tried out Coda, excellent tool for blog design?

With the last theme, there were some things I wanted to do that involved tweaking some of the CSS. But the div tags were SO nested nested in the styles.css file that I didn’t dare mess with anything!

This one just looks a lot more “polished” and has a more active community supporting it.

oh my goodness scott! i was lazily searching for your greeley email and this whole site popped up! how awesome! i am enrolled in the phd program too and wanted to connect about classes….what are you taking next year? eeeek…it will be fuin to see you!

I got your point. And I agree. This is an easier theme to handle. I like it a lot.
